The OC As Roger said, this is generally not a good idea. It can work but you have to be very careful. You can use a switch, but you’ll have to be very careful to make sure you never switch it when the amps are powered up. Also you must be aware that having a switch in the line between an amp and a speaker is not a good idea. A switch can have resistance and it’s contacts can pit and oxidize over time. The more current that runs through them, the more likely this is. That said, many receivers have built in speaker switches, but mainly these are lower powered receivers and not fussy higher end amplifiers.
How Do I Hook Up a Subwoofer to My Vintage Receiver?
Next If your subwoofer doesn’t have an internal amplifier , you’ll definitely want to connect an amplifier to it. To do this, you’ll need your subwoofer, an amplifier, at least one set of RCA cables these are the red, white, and yellow jacks on a single cable , speakers , and speaker wires. First, you’ll want to think about where you’ll keep the subwoofer. Because the subwoofer is working mostly on the bass the low tones , it doesn’t require as much directional pushing as speakers do.
Since you’ll have to run cables and wires between the subwoofer and other devices, you might want to keep it just a few feet from your screen.

To Begin To begin installation of your kit, locate your factory amp which is hidden behind the moulded carpet on the back wall of the trunk on the driver’s side. If you plan to mount your aftermarket amp elsewhere, you can leave the factory Boston amp in place and just unplug the 3 harness connectors that connect to it. However, if you plan to use this factory spot, you will need to remove the amp.
Remember the spot is very small and only a few amps will fit here.

Feb 01, · 05 sorento-adding 2 amps, mids, highs, sub. Jl 10w6v2 jl xr mids jl xrcsi now i was TRYING to hook it up to the factory stereo. i bought the line out converter that you splice into the speaker wire and makes an audio out. i installed it after the factory amp. hooked up the sub and it sounds like crap. anyone else experience this?
What is your objective? Where are the speakers? Are some inside and some outside? Does the stereo have RCA outputs? If you have RCA outputs from the deck it would provide a much better installation, so if your deck doesn’t have them then you should consider swapping it out. If you wany rnough power to hear it over engine and wind noise while underway then you should probably go with two amps, a four channel and a two channel.
The two channel amp will be for the sub: A watt watt per channel amp would give you a pretty good sub. For the outside speakers I am assuming there would be four a watt, 50 watts per channel amp would be good. I wouldn’t recommend driving your speakers at 50 watts each, they probably are not rated for that and it would sound terrible and could easily destroy them. Running the amp at significantly lower power than its maximum rating will assure that the sound quality is not degraded by the amp.
You will want to mount the amps as close to the battery as you can.

Laguna Blue Pearl As armand1 said, it’s easier to ‘tap’ the speaker wires behind the factory radio. To do that without cutting or splicing the factory radio harness, get two after-market harnesses: Wire the these two straight through so your radio sees all the wires like before , and tap off between these two harnesses to send 2 or 4 of the speaker outputs to your LOC or amp s.
You’ll need to make sure both harnesses have all 14 wires. Most of the ones out there lack one of the illumination wires. Without that your stock radio won’t light up.
Oct 08, · A 20 amp 2 pole breaker is OK for a motor up to about 1 HP. The circuit breaker provides short circuit and ground fault protection only. Overload protection is provided in either the control box, or built into the motor.
Preparations In this case, the power was controlled by a amp breaker on the main breaker panel. I turned off the breaker. Then I removed the cover from the sub-panel that was getting a new circuit breaker. This situation is a little different from most houses. This house has a amp main breaker panel, which feeds 3 subsidiary breaker panels. This is a good technique for house wiring, although it does cost a little more.

In reality, a lot of these variables are mutually exclusive: If you want maximum power output, be prepared to pay more for the drivers and sacrifice some frequency response. Keep these things in mind as you read over the next sections. A Note on Speaker Selection Don’t skimp too much on the speakers:

Speaker Connections for proper impedance match A note about amplifiers: You should always use the recommended load for your amplifier. However, if you must use a load other than the recommended load, here is a short guide. Most solid-state amplifiers would rather look at an open circuit no speaker at all than a load.

They are not cheap. As part of the Custom Series, this is the popular “Version 1” style, which allows selection of up to 4 Tube amplifiers, and connects the amps to a common load speaker cabinet.
